Newtown Movie School provides fully interactive movie making programmes for children, age 9 to 15, who have an interest in creative hands-on movie making –- but just need access to equipment, know-how to get started, coaching and guidance, or want to work with like-minded children.

Stop Motion Animation
Learn how to animate a story in stop motion.
This is our most popular holiday programme workshop. Learn how to master every part of the animation process from plot to soundtrack to pictures. We provide all the equipment and the Lego. Just bring your creativity.

Blockbuster Studios
Make a movie trailer for the next big thing. Develop a storyline, act in dramatic locations and edit for the premiere.
This is a real acting programme and will provide an opportunity to work in an area of interest (eg, acting, camera, editing) or to learn across all areas. Blockbuster Studios is the closest you'll get to the buzz of a real movie set.
The last day features the premiere screening and party (4pm) - open to all friends and family.

iPad Animation
Learn how to create a touching stop motion story on the iPad.
Bring your own (BYO) iPad and we'll lead you through the complete production of your own stop motion movie. Using three apps (GarageBand, iStopMotion and iMovie) you'll complete the whole process 100% on the iPad. Please download these three apps before you come. This workshop gives you all the skills you need to develop your craft at home or school.

iPad Movie Director
Turn your iPad into a serious movie making studio. Bring your own (BYO) iPad and improve your movie making skills. Learn how to record great pictures with good sound, and edit them into a proper movie in the iMovie app.
This is a real acting programme - so whether you like being in front or behind the camera this is the workshop for you.

Cancellation
Paid registrations can be changed to another child - no problem. Just send us an email of the details so we know who is coming.
In the event that you need to cancel a paid registration, a cancellation fee of $50 per person will apply - except where the cancellation reduces the number of registrations below the viable number for that workshop and a higher cancellation fee may be retained. Our viable numbers are quite low and we'll let you know at the time so you have the opportunity to find an alternative child to attend.
